Boots, Gap and Banana Republic coming soon to the Gulf

According to Arabian Business magazine, Kuwait's AlShaya Group, which presently owns and operates Starbucks, Body Shop, TopShop, TopMan, Rover Island, Claire's, Mothercare, Debenhams, Liz Clairborne and Next in seven middle eastern countries, Turkey and Russia, has now signed up to bring Boots to the Gulf with plans to open 10 shops in Dubai and Kuwait this year and approximately 200 shops in total within 5 years. Even better, Al Shaya is finalizing an agreement with Gap Inc to bring The Gap and Banana Republic stores to the region. It will be the first time that Gap allows anyone to franchise their stores, they currently own all their stores in the US, Canada, UK, Germany and Spain.

Arab Pearl - In Dubai they have a shop called Studio R that sells Gap, Banana Republic, Old Navy and other US brands but it's not actually a franchise. They buy old stock, last season's clothes, etc and sell them in their shops. It's the same as having an actual Gap or Banana Republic with the full range of clothes and the latest designs.

As for opening in Oman.. can't be a priority, but who knows.
